Salon

At the back of Pale Fire there is a salon where people gather. The room was designed and built by architect Scott Cohen and artist Graham Landin, with significant contributions by Duncan McQuade, Charlotte Campbell, Justin Wright and Paul Kuranko. The salon is imagined as a sanctuary, drawing aesthetic influence from West Coast saunas, Southern saloons, Victorian drawing rooms, and Prohibition-era speakeasies.

This space also draws inspiration from the history and vernacular of regional artist bars, such as Nicole Ondre and Vanessa Disler’s Cedar Tavern at Exercise (2011–13), Instant Coffee’s Light Bar (2008–10), Robert Pederson’s Solder and Sons (2008–14), Kaspar Feyrer’s Poodle Dog Ornamental Bar (2009), Alex Mackenzie’s Blinding Light (1998–2003) and Edison Electric (1995–97), and Michael Turner’s Malcolm Lowry Room (1993–96).

The salon is available to rent for private events of up to 50 people. The basic rental fee for an evening is $500 + tax. If you are interested in renting the salon, please fill out this questionnaire so we can get a better sense of how we can host you.
